KEYNOTE

Brick by Brick: Building a Future with Intention

Today’s students are under unprecedented pressure to have their entire future mapped out—while simultaneously trying to keep pace with everyone around them. The result? Overwhelm, self-doubt, and a growing sense that they’re falling behind before they’ve even begun.

In this engaging and empowering keynote, Lynsy Karrick challenges the belief that life must follow a rigid plan or a competitive timeline. Through relatable storytelling and the powerful metaphor of building with LEGOs, Lynsy invites students to reimagine their future as something they can shape, adjust, and rebuild—one intentional decision at a time.

Blending humor, personal insight, and practical strategies, this session helps students release the pressure of perfection and comparison, reconnect with their values, and move forward with clarity and confidence. Participants will learn how to lead their lives with intention—making choices that support growth, well-being, and a meaningful sense of direction.

Students will leave feeling lighter, more empowered, and ready to build a future that reflects who they are—not who they think they’re supposed to be.

Learning outcomes:

  • Identify internal and external pressures—such as comparison and rigid expectations—that influence their decisions and well‑being.

  • Reframe their approach to success by recognizing that growth is not a race and that meaningful progress can be built over time.

  • Apply a flexible, intentional framework for decision‑making that allows for exploration, adjustment, and continued learning.

  • Evaluate opportunities and next steps using personal values rather than external timelines or expectations.

  • Develop practical strategies to manage time and energy in ways that support balance, well‑being, and intentional growth.

WORKSHOPS

More Than Membership: Creating Connection, Commitment, and Momentum

From apathy and retention challenges to complacency and stalled momentum, many organizations find themselves stuck operating below their true potential. While these struggles are common, they are not inevitable—and neither are the solutions out of reach.

In this engaging and insightful session, Lynsy brings organizational challenges to life through authentic stories of spectacular missteps, hard‑earned lessons, and unexpected wins. With humor, honesty, and real‑world experience, she challenges participants to rethink what’s holding their teams back and equips them with practical strategies to move forward with clarity and confidence.

Participants will walk away energized and empowered, with tangible tools they can immediately apply to elevate engagement, reignite momentum, and move their organization from simply functioning to truly thriving.

NO MORE DRAMA: Turning tension into growth

Conflict can significantly impact the success of student organizations—affecting group dynamics, leader effectiveness, and overall campus impact. While conflict is often viewed as something to avoid, it is not inherently negative. In fact, when approached intentionally, healthy conflict can strengthen teams, improve decision‑making, and support growth.

In this session, students will explore the difference between productive and destructive conflict and learn why conflict management is a critical leadership skill. Lynsy will guide participants through strategies to prevent unnecessary conflict, address challenges when they arise, and recognize how personal behaviors and assumptions can unintentionally escalate tension. Students will leave with practical tools to navigate conflict thoughtfully, reduce internal stress, and foster stronger, more resilient organizations.

We’ve Got This: Creating a Culture of Shared Leadership

“If you want something done right, do it yourself.” While this mindset may feel productive in the moment, it often leads to burnout for leaders and disengagement among members. Strong organizations aren’t built by one person doing everything—they’re built by empowered teams working together toward a shared goal.

In this interactive session, students will explore practical ways to shift from doing it all to leading through others. Participants will learn how to delegate with intention, tap into the strengths of their members, and create meaningful opportunities for involvement and ownership. By fostering shared responsibility and collaboration, leaders can reduce their own stress while increasing engagement, accountability, and momentum across the organization.

Students will leave understanding that while individual leadership matters, collective leadership is what drives sustainable success—turning a group of members into a motivated, unified force.

built to evolve: reducing resistance and leading growth

Change can feel uncomfortable—especially in organizations built on long‑standing traditions and familiar routines. Phrases like “We’ve always done it this way” often feel safe, but they can also limit growth, creativity, and progress. For both individuals and organizations, meaningful improvement requires the willingness to question what’s familiar and imagine what’s possible.

In this session, students will examine how traditions and habits can unintentionally hold organizations back. Participants will learn how to evaluate current practices with a thoughtful, critical lens and explore strategies for implementing change in a way that feels intentional rather than overwhelming. Students will also gain tools to reduce anxiety around change and build confidence in navigating new ideas, ensuring their organizations remain relevant, adaptable, and positioned for long‑term success.

FUNEXPECTED MEETINGS

Have meetings started to feel repetitive—or worse, forgettable? When attendance drops and engagement fades, it’s often a sign that meetings have become routine rather than meaningful. It doesn’t have to be that way.

This interactive workshop invites students to rethink what meetings can be. Participants will reflect on their most engaging meeting experiences and collaborate to generate fresh, practical ideas to re‑energize their own organizations. Together, we’ll explore creative strategies to increase participation, spark collaboration, and transform meetings from something members feel obligated to attend into something they genuinely look forward to.

Walk away with actionable ideas, renewed enthusiasm, and a toolkit to take your meetings from predictable to purposeful—and yes, even FUNexpected.
